OUR MISSION

Animal Guardians of Brevard was formed to promote responsible, lifetime pet guardianship through education, counseling, and accessible, affordable sterilization.  We strive to increase awareness of companion animal overpopulation and promote or participate in any activities that will improve the well-being of homeless, neglected, abandoned, and unwanted animals.

OUR VISION

Animal Guardians of Brevard   exists to see that one day every companion animal born will have the lifetime, loving home s/he deserves in a world with No More Homeless Pets.

!!! PLEASE HELP US CONTINUE TO SAVE LIVES !!!

We are almost out of funds and have had to significantly reduce operations.  We may need to suspend them entirely if we do not get desperately needed donations.  We are the ONLY program in the area that provides whatever financial assistance is needed for eligible pet guardians to get their pets sterilized.  YOU CAN SAVE LIVES THROUGH US WITH A DONATION.  Over 99% of our contributions go DIRECTLY to fund this work.   PLEASE make a donation today by contacting us, or through safe, secure

Animal Guardians of Brevard WAS A LOCAL RECIPIENT OF THE prestigious, national Jefferson Award for Public Service on May 24, 2006, recognizing the value of our programs and our commitment to helping homeless animals.

In October, 2006, our President, Mary E. Peer, was chosen as a finalist for Volunteer of the Year by Florida Today.

On April 20, 2007, Animal Guardians received regional Jefferson Award Recognition.

ANIMAL GUARDIANS OF BREVARD was featured on WESH NEWS CHANNEL 2 with Wendy Chiogi in Friday, April 6, 2007.  Mary and Dennis Peer were recognized as "HOMETOWN HEROES" and Jefferson Award recipients.  Click here to view.

Animal Guardians of Brevard is NOT a shelter and we do not have animals directly in our care.  Therefore we cannot accept any animals.  We also cannot find new homes for animals unless they are already in shelters. Our primary focus is on Spaying and Neutering, and we have arranged and funded sterilization of over 3000 cats and dogs (including 1494 in 2008).

We also support the efforts of the Brevard County Animal Care and Adoption Centers (South-SACC, North-NACC) in trying to manage all the animals discarded or abandoned by the community and the area's "no-kill" shelters, which are also subject to the overwhelming number of unwanted pets.  SACC and NACC are Brevard's largest and ONLY open-admission shelters, accepting any animal, from any source, for any reason, at any time.  They are extremely overcrowded at this time with healthy, friendly cats and dogs who need safe, loving homes.  PLEASE open your heart and your home to an animal in dire need.  Save a life.

Animal Guardians' SPAY-NEUTER CLINICS and Assistance

Animal Guardians of Brevard offers low cost spay-neuter services (and financial aid for eligible pet guardians) through local low-cost clinics.

APPOINTMENTS ARE MANDATORY.  Please click here or contact us for more information.

PLEASE NOTE:  We do NOT spay and neuter pets purchased from pet stores or breeders, or adopted from rescue organizations for an adoption fee.  If you cannot afford the cost of sterilization and necessary shots in addition to the price or adoption fee, then please adopt from a responsible organization where it is all included.   Generally the fee is no higher and the animals are just as wonderful!

Daisy’s Place Pet Adoption  has opened in downtown Eau Gallie to bring adoptable animals and the community together in a pleasant, new setting.  Daisy’s Place is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that showcases rescued, fostered, and shelter animals to help them find the lifelong, loving homes they deserve.

Daisy’s Place will also offer family events, educational workshops, and have a wide range of wholesome pet foods, toys, and other items available.  Daisy’s Place is open Monday through Friday from 12 until 5, and Saturday from 10 until 4, and is located in the Well-Life Pet Café at 587 W. Eau Gallie Blvd. in Melbourne.  For more information please call 321-745-2053 or visit the website.  See map.

Our NICKEL NEUTER Event with the SPCA was held on November 13 and SIXTY-ONE cats were neutered for just five cents each !

Unfortunately, several people failed to show up without notice, and 31 additional slots went unused.  If funds permit, we hope to have another Nickel Neuter in the future.

Animal Guardians of Brevard has received a grant from the Florida Animal Friend license PLATE PROGRAM. Proceeds from the sale of these TAGS fund grants to organizations that spay and neuter animals.

OUR grant for $8000 Was designated for the sterilization of pet cats and dogs

Thanks to all who have these tags for supporting spay and neuter services!

Eleanor Sheldon of Lee Sheldon, DDS, PA, and Linda Pepin of Aloha Pet and Bird Hospital receive certificates of appreciation for their efforts to save homeless animals.  Mrs. Sheldon has fostered over 200 cats, and the dental office raises funds for Animal Guardians' Spay-Neuter Programs.  Aloha offers shelter pets for adoption on their office and donates spays and neuters.  THANK YOU TO THESE THOUGHTFUL PEOPLE.

Thank you Steve and Sandra for generously donating two 13,000 BTU heaters to help keep the animals warm at the South Animal Care and Adoption Center.  Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Animal Guardians of Brevard is honored to be the recipient of a very generous donation from the estate of Mr. William Townsend.  Mr. Townsend’s final gift will save the lives and prevent the birth and suffering of thousands of homeless, abandoned, and unwanted animals.

Mr. Townsend was a devoted animal lover throughout his life.  In his later years he could not have pets,  Instead, he gave generously of his time and love to Brevard’s less fortunate dogs and cats as a volunteer at his local animal shelter.

We extend our deepest sympathy to those who knew and cared for this thoughtful gentleman.  Such kindness makes the world a better place for everyone, especially the animals for whom Mr. Townsend cared so much.

Every time disaster strikes, people rush to adopt displaced pets. While this is a very generous gesture, PLEASE DON'T FORGET THAT SWEET, BEAUTIFUL, HEALTHY ANIMALS IN BREVARD DIE FOR LACK OF HOMES EVERY DAY whether there has been a disaster or not.  IF YOU HAVE A HOME FOR A DISASTER PET, SURELY YOU HAVE ONE FOR A LOCAL PET WHOSE LIFE IS JUST AS VALUABLE.  Read Buddy's story.

Our  low cost spay-neuter PROGRAMS are providing assistance to needy peoples' pets through clinics and referrals for low cost services.    Brevard County now offers a $25 rebate for pet sterilization.  Find out more.
"No Kill" STARTS with No Birth.

Those of us involved with Animal Guardians of Brevard appreciate the strength of the pet-person bond and the devastating effects loss of a pet can have.  Our sympathy is with all who have lost a cherished companion and we have dedicated a PET LOSS page to the beloved pets of those who have suffered such a loss.
